29 October 2010 – Residents and visitors to the Cottonera Waterfront were surprised to see the Macina building lit up in blue flood lights and many were wondering if the colour was a political statement of some sort. In fact it wasn’t, the lighting was just a small part of the decorations we set up to celebrate our 15th anniversary at a most unique setting.
Since it was erected in the early 17th century, this building has served various different purposes including as the Admiralty’s Head Office, stores, a trade school and as the Malta Labour Party headquarters until it was taken over by the Macina Development Company Limited. We are currently working with our clients to promote the building for new investment and with their support, we took the opportunity to hold our anniversary event here. This was no easy task and our staff together with various suppliers and sponsors worked for weeks to clean and decorate the interior and get it ready for the event.
As part of the decorations we set up ten art installations to illustrate our history from humble beginnings in 1995 to the present day.
